Vacaville Christian Athletics is excited to introduce our newest team member, Coach Awad. Coach Awad comes to us from Texas! Read his story…
My name is Wahed T. Awad and I will be the new Head Varsity Soccer Coach this coming Winter Season 2021-2022. A little about myself, I was born and raised in Texas. Yes, I’m a Dallas Cowboys fan along with FC Dallas Soccer, Texas Rangers, and Barcelona FC; you can say I love sports! My wife and I definitely try to involve ourselves in intramural sports to keep active. We are a military family that was relocated to California in mid August 2020 and are trying to adjust to the California environment and what it has to offer. We definitely love the mountains, as it reminds us of home.
My family and I love to explore new areas whether it’s by air, land, or sea – weather permitting, since we have a 2 year old son who we hope one day will be the next Messi and one new member of the family on the way. We have 3 dogs who are all rescues. We believe every dog should have a home with a roof over their head. Little fun fact, I enjoy the outdoors working on my lawn or doing some projects around the house. Grilling outside is another favorite of mine when it’s time to just enjoy the good ole fresh air. Before moving to California I coached for several years at a private school where I coached multiple sports from pre-K through senior high level.
Giving back to my community in Texas was very important t me. I volunteered to coach soccer and serve as a board member for the club for several years, helping to increase the love of the game of Soccer. Over the years, I’ve also helped coach a UPSL semi-pro soccer team in the DFW area with the goal of helping our players get the attention of college recruiters by having them attend some of our home games to see our players who want to continue playing the game at the collegiate level.
I can’t wait to meet all my new athletes and get down to business.
